CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

On 12th Apriil 2020, we annouced to you via the President Update that the state government had extended closures till Monday 11th May. Since then, our board continued to meet on a regular basis and prepared a number of strategies for when we're given the green light. As a result and in the anticipation of the course being allowed to open after Monday 11th May, we are pleased to announce the following:
  1. Tee-times for Members & Public bookings will be open from tomorrow (Thursday 7th May 9am).
  2. Whilst conditions of play are unconfirmed by Golf Australia at this point in time, the tee-sheets will have a one tee start with only two players per group.
  3. Tee-times will be available for Tuesday 12th May to Friday 15 May only at this stage. Tee-times beyond these dates will be confirmed at a later date.
  4. A further announcement via email, website and social media on Monday 11th May will confirm if the course and/or range will be open from Tuesday 12th or not. The announcement will be AFTER advise from Golf Australia and/or Victorian Government officials. The time of announcement is unconfirmed at this stage. The announcement will also mention tee-time arrangements and openings, conditions of play and any modifications to local rules (if any).
  5. At this stage, we are unsure if competition play can be conducted. This will also be confirmed in the announcement on Monday 11th May.
  6. If the decision on Monday 11th May by Golf Australia / Victorian Government is that course closures are to remain, gates will remain closed at the club on Tuesday 12th May. For any green fee player who books online will have their green fee honoured for when the course eventually re-opens. Please keep a look out via email, website and/or social media on Monday 11th May to be notified.
All members should be extremely proud of the work our board members & management staff have been doing behind the scenes to not only get us ready for an opening, but also to keep our club viable during these difficult times.
To Bryan Edwards, Chris Saldanha, Stephen Decker, Terry Last and George Andoniadis, who have also been supported by David Lofthouse, Jarryd Ebeyer, Lee Veal, Geoff Ross and Pratik Dhody, we thank you for your efforts.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Due to the current social distancing restrictions, the board will not be proceeding with the 2019-2020 Annual General Meeting proposed for mid-June. We will however be releasing the 2019-2020 financials to you, as soon as they have been cleared by the auditors, for your perusal.
Once the social distancing restrictions allow, we will announce an appropriate date for the AGM to be held.

Once again on behalf of the board, thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

Our President, Bryan Edwards will be addressing membership in his next bulletin once then the course opens, however if there are members that have not paid their fees, and have the capacity to pay these fees, the club would appreciate your support in renewing your membership.
To do so, please contact membership@mtderrimut.com.au to have this organised.

For all the members that have paid their fees, thank you for your support during this period!

GOLF WEST CARD UPDATE

Once we get back to the club, the match committee will be looking at how we distribute this card to all our 7 Day members. The June newsletter will have information on this, however if there are any 7 Day Members that require the card before June, please contact Graham Whittaker (0413 869 427) who will arrange for you to collect the card.

COURSE UPDATE

Whilst the course has been closed, our ground staff have aerified greens and tees, relieving them of the compaction from a busy golfing spring and summer.

Sand has been added to bunkers on the 15th (front), 9th and 18th (greenside) while drainage has been cleared, extended and cleaned.

The course itself is going well, growth rates on the couch surfaces ( tees, surrounds and fairways) have all slowed down with the grass transitioning towards dormancy as the weather is cooling, the greens have recovered well for the aeration, and with no golf being played most pitch marks have been repaired.

We have received 117mm of rain in April bringing the year's total so far to 339mm compared with last year when we had a total of just 30mm of rain year to date.

For when you all come back next week (hopefully!), you all are in for a treat when we open!
Well done to Lee and his staff for the great job they have done during the shutdown.

PROSHOP STOREROOM

During the shutdown, two of our members, Geoff Ross & George Andoniadis have been hard at work building a new storeroom for the Proshop which will give the proshop staff better access for golf repairs and storage of golf clubs. A big thank you to Rick Brillanti and John Frontzcak for their hard work in assisting to complete this project.
