a COVID-19 update from MDGC

Hi Member or Guest,

As you will be aware, measures to control the Coronavirus (COVID-19) have evolved very rapidly in Australia and around the world in recent days. As a club, the health and safety of members, guests and staff is paramount. Given the demographic of our members, a conservative approach has been taken to mitigate risk as far as possible. We ask that members exercise the same level of judgement and follow the guidelines outlined below for the benefit of the Mt Derrimut Golf & Community Club.

If you have recently travelled in the past 14 days, or you’ve been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, you will have been required to undertake a period of self-quarantine for 14 days. If this condition applies to you, or any intended guest, you are requested to exercise all due caution and NOT attend the club until the applicable quarantine period has expired. Information regarding international travel is being updated by Australian Health authorities on a regular basis, so for further information please click HERE for the latest advice.
Again, if you have travelled in the past 14 days or intend to travel or have been in contact with any person suffering from the COVID-19 virus you are requested not to attend the club until your 14 day isolation period is complete.

Incident Reporting
It is vitally important that if a member, guest or staff member tests positive to COVID-19, they must inform the club as soon as possible. If this has occurred, anyone testing positive will be contacted by the State/Territory Department of Health in relation to contact tracing.
Should any member, guest or staff member test positive for the Coronavirus, you should contact the Club SecretaryTerry Last immediately on 0402 825 745. You will be required to provide a Doctors Certificate stating that you are not carrying COVID-19, before entry is permitted.

The government has recently advised that non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled. At this stage Mt Derrimut does not have any upcoming events that would warrant cancelling under this advice. That said, every upcoming event will be considered on a case by case scenario and modified as required to ensure the maximum level of protection from transmission. Members will be advised accordingly of such changes if and when required.

The club has active hygiene policies in place and we would appreciate your support with the following:
✅Wash hands often with soap and running water, for at least 20 seconds
✅Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth
✅Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow
✅Isolate yourself at home if you feel sick
✅Shaking hands is not advised!

What next?
The club will continue to keep you updated frequently as changes to our operations occur, the best source of information will be on our website or via our Facebook or Instagram channels.
It would appear likely that we will experience temporary closures or areas of quarantine at some point in the near future. Should this situation occur, temporary closures will be associated with the Clubhouse and/or Golf Shop, and in a worst case scenario, ultimately the entire precinct.

We thank you for your understanding and co-operation during this challenging time.

Yours truly,
Bryan Edwards (Club President)
